What do you think makes a great leader?
To me a great leader needs to be a consistent role model who students can aspire to follow. A leader needs to have the ability to guide a group, interacting with each individual in the group and most importantly lead by example.
Annaliese Heuvel: Rotorua Lakes High School head girl
What is the one thing you want to achieve this year?
One thing I want to achieve this year is to really get involved with the new students to the school. Being involved in the day-to-day life of the school leads to new opportunities for students to explore and learn from. I believe taking every opportunity is essential to the growth and development of an individual as a person.
What do you think makes a great leader?
What makes a great leader is someone who believes in what they're doing, strives to do the best they can which then reflects back on her followers, who will then follow in her footpath of success.
Robbie Wong-Toi: John Paul College head boy
What is the one thing you want to achieve this year?
I hope to inspire fellow students to involve themselves more within all aspects of school life, more predominantly within their academics and community. I hope to help students furthermore incorporate our heritage, culture and key fundamental values, "faith, service and community", into their lives. Ultimately, I wish that by the end of the year, each and every student is proud to be part of our family.
What do you think makes a great leader?
I think that the makings of a great leader lie within their ability to understand the differing requirements of everyone, ensuring a feeling of acceptance among all. I believe in cooperation, not intimidation, and that for a leader to be successful, they need to be "hands on" and work alongside everyone, as opposed to dictating.

What is the one thing you want to achieve this year?
I would like to influence a small portion of the student body away from the misconception that being smart, or trying hard is "uncool" in order for them to achieve academic, sporting and cultural success. I plan to achieve this by being a positive role model and getting involved in many different aspects of our school, to create strong relationships, and hopefully inspire to have a greater work ethic, and be proud about achieving well. This goes for the same about the Catholic character of our school, with our values "faith, service and community" to influence a positive attitude of our unique culture, and enhancing our school spirit.
What do you think makes a great leader?
To be a role model, you have to of course be confident yet relatable. In my opinion, to fully inspire someone you have to show them that you too have been in more or less that exact same situation. Sharing your own experiences draws students' interest into your vision and motivates them to get involved, and excited about it.
Jordyn Tereu: Rotorua Girls' High School head girl
What is one thing you want to achieve this year?
I want to empower people on their journey to seeking their purpose and identity by
being a positive role model inside and outside of school. I hope to be someone the youth of today can aspire to be like.

What is one thing you want to achieve this year?
One of the many things I want to achieve this year is taking our school to new, unimaginable heights, whilst living up to our school motto "Ad Astra Per Aspera". I would also like to make sure that when I leave Rotorua Boys' High School at the end of the year, I've made a positive difference in someone's school life.
What do you think makes a great leader?
I think that a great leader is someone who leads from the front but also knows when to take a step back and give someone else a go. A great leader should be approachable and at the same time have a strong sense of teamwork.

What is one thing you want to achieve this year?
A goal of mine would definitely be to set an example for young Maori students who are new to the school such as Year 9s and 10s. A high priority of mine is to raise the profile of Maori in our school and local community, and narrow the gap between
the results of Maori and Pacific Islanders to other ethnic profiles such as European and Asian. Although I am a great patriarch for the school, my main focus is definitely my NCEA results. A goal of mine this year is to endorse the year at excellence level and do the best I can with my external examinations.
What do you think makes a great leader?
To me a great leader leads by example. He knows when to lead, when to delegate tasks and when to step back from leadership in order for the most effective outcome to occur. He inspires his people, brings his strategy to life and effortlessly drives change when it is needed.
Bailey Morrison: Western Heights High School head girl
What is one thing you want to achieve this year?
My main goal is to maintain the sense of family throughout our school. I would also personally like to continue with my studies and strive to gain an excellence
endorsement at NCEA Level 3. I have a passion for music and plan to study towards a Bachelor of Music at Auckland University, therefore I would also like to work hard at improving my musical abilities this year.

A great leader is someone who acts as the voice for their community. They have a good attitude and are a positive role model to their peers. At Western Heights, my focus as a leader is to put the needs of the students first and create ideas that will see improvements to the school.
