Rotorua police have recovered the hand-carved pou stolen from graves at Rotorua's Kauae Cemetery.
The carved pou (wooden posts) were placed on the graves of Charmaine Hayward, who died at 5 months old in 1977, and her brother William Hayward, who was just 6 years old when he died in 1982.
Police also recovered a number of other carvings and pou and encourage anyone who has had an item of this kind stolen to contact us at Rotorua Police Station on 07 348 0099.
They are also urging anyone who hasn't visited the grave of a loved since Christmas in the Rotorua area to check and report anything that is missing.
