The performance by the Aotearoa National Maori Choir to mark the centenary of St Faith's Church has been cancelled by the company staging it.
The owner of Pouro Productions Ltd, entertainer and promoter Rim D Paul, made the announcement today, citing low ticket sales.
The concert was to have been at Ohinemutu on November 1 and was also to commemorate 200 years since Christianity arrived in New Zealand.
The chairman of St Faith's vestry Bill Kingi said the cancellation was a disappointment for the church whose congregation had worked hard to help stage the event which was also to feature a number of well-known entertainers, including Temua Brennan and Rewa Ututaonga.
However, the service to celebrate the church's 100 year milestone would proceed as scheduled the following day Sunday, November 2, at 9am, Mr Kingi said.
