Special Steamers hub to build support

Rotorua's i-Site visitor centre is turning blue and gold as the team throw their support behind the Bay of Plenty Steamers.

The visitor centre and i-Site has set up a special area to provide details of the games and sell merchandise, as part of a plan to get people excited about the team.

Rotorua Visitor Centre and i-Site manager Graham Brownrigg said it was all about throwing support behind the team.

"What we are trying to do is back the Steamers. They don't have a base or a focal point here."

The area includes details of coming matches, as well as the opportunity to buy merchandise.

"We encourage anyone who wants to find out more about the next game to pop in.

"It's great to be able to promote them at the i-Site."

He said it was also a great way to make sure people were aware of the coming Rotorua game, on September 12.

"We've got such a fantastic stadium, arguably one of the best around.

"It's about raising the profile and raising awareness of the games."
