Heavy rain and thunderstorms are predicted for Rotorua and the Eastern Bay of Plenty.
MetServicce has warned of an active front moving over most of New Zealand today but will stall over the Bay of Plenty tonight.
Warnings for heavy rain are in force which is expected to become thunderly late this afternoon before easing before dawn tomorrow morning.
MetService said expect 80 to 120mm to accumulate.
The heaviest falls were likely to be this evening with peak intensities 25 to 40mm per hour, especially with thunderstorms.
