Serious injuries after car hits cyclist near Taupo

One person is seriously injured after a car hit a cyclist near Taupo.

A police spokesman said they were called to the incident on Whangamata Rd between Poihipi Rd and Hurunui Lane in Kinloch at 2.33pm.

The road was earlier closed in both directions but is now open.

Ambulance and fire services are also in attendance.
