One person suffered serious injuries in a crash on the outskirts of Whakatane last night.
Around 8.45pm yesterday a car crashed on State Highway 30 near Te Rahu Rd on the outskirts of the Eastern Bay town.
Eastern Bay of Plenty road policing manager Sergeant Ray Wylie said initial police inquiries indicated the driver, who was the sole occupant, failed to negotiate a sweeping right hand bend.
As a result the vehicle crossed the centre line and overturned.
The driver was taken to Whakatane Hospital with serious injuries.
