Three Rotorua Girls' High School staff successfully passed a 32 week post graduate course this year and were the first RGHS participants to receive Nga Pumanawa e Waru Scholarships.
The staff members who completed the Unitec MindLab Course were principal Ally Gibbons, deputy principal Aramoana Mohi Maxwell, and e-learning co-ordinator and Year 10 dean Felicity Kaiwai.
The first half of the course involved looking at a variety of different leadership theories and styles around how digital tools and collaborative learning can be used to raise achievement in the classroom.
They also looked at and researched various options around 21st century learning and how educators can transform their practice.
The second half of the course was mainly online, with the occasional face to face workshop and focuses on research, informed practice, self-reflection and community engagement.
Seven other members of staff are now following in their footsteps.
