Youth development co-ordinator Alan Solomon says this is the centre's first time doing this event and it spent last month putting it together.
"We thought it would be a great way to celebrate the end of the academic year."
He says it is also a great launching pad for the Rotorua Youth Centre leadership crew, and they were invited along to volunteer and see how the centre put on events.
The centre is looking for 20 young people to be a part of its leadership team and so far 15 have registered.
The aim is for the youth leadership team to put about five youth events together over the year, and there will be other opportunities for them to volunteer at centre activities.
Alan says they would in charge of all aspects, such as the organising, funding, and the management of the events.
Team member Christa Kurian, 15, says she registered because she thought the youth of Rotorua needed more events they could meet and have fun in.
It will also help her to gain a lot of new useful skills, she says.
She encourages people to go along because it is a great way to spend your summer.
"Going to the movies and mall can get boring after a while."
Team member Jae Woo Jin, 15, says he joined because he felt like the youth of Rotorua needed something to do out of their homes which was fun.
The experience of being part of the leadership team at the centre will also help him later on in life with being able to organise events, he says.
"It gives you experience you need in life later on, is a great way to meet new people, and a very good way to learn life skills you will need to become successful."
