A Rotorua woman has landed a top scholarship that will eliminate any need for a student loan.
Noelle Dannenbring, a former John Paul College student, has received the prestigious Sir Edmund Hillary Scholarship from the University of Waikato - an all-fees paying scholarship that supports students in a chosen discipline, and provides mentoring, personal development and leadership opportunities while they study.
Ms Dannenbring, a fourth year student at the university, received the scholarship for her achievements in music.
Playing the piano since she was six, she has competed in a number of local and international competitions and said her father was an influence for her.
She plans to study overseas in the future, but for the time being she's looking to take on more solo performances, and in chamber groups around the globe. Afterwards she wants to look into teaching or accompanying as a pianist. Ms Dannenbring has started her fourth year of study in a Bachelor of Music with honours and said the scholarship had opened the door for many opportunities.
