The Salvation Army Rotorua is offering free fitness classes aimed at those who want to feel physically better about themselves but cannot afford to.
Commanding officer Major Bill Millar is using his physiotherapy experience to offer a low impact class for women. A class specifically for men had previously been held.
"This exercise routine started off very much coming from my passion for people in the gutter.
"I'm aware that there is a whole lot of people who would love to go to the gym if they can afford it," Mr Millar said.
"It's a safe, user friendly programme that is easy on the joints and can be adapted from body builders to elderly and everyone in between. It's resistance building provided by yourself."
