"We're a fast, fit squad. We've got size across the park so hopefully with the bounce of the ball we should go okay.
"Preparation has been good, where we've tried simulating tournament conditions as much as possible.
"With every sevens tournament it starts with the first game. So we're just focusing on the first seven minutes against Hastings Boys'."
Sevens rugby is well established in the Rotorua Boys' rugby programme where they have consistently been the top school in the Bay.
For Opotiki, it will be the boys' team's debut at the tournament. They qualified after beating more fancied opponents Tauranga Boys' and Gisborne Boys' at the recent Bay Engineers Supplies Bay of Plenty Secondary School Sevens tournament.
Coach Aaron Bidois said he was extremely proud of what the team had achieved so far.
"The boys are tracking along pretty well. It will be a big step up from our BOP tournament but the boys are quietly confident after beating Tauranga Boys' and Gisborne Boys'.
"It has created self-belief. With both us and the girls qualifying, it's been the talk of the town. We've had awesome support from the community.
"We are representing our families and grandparents. Win or lose at Condors, we're proud of what we've achieved and we will still travel home as a family."
The Opotiki U19 girls will be returning to the Condors for the second year in a row.
All matches will be played at Kelston Boys' with many games screened live on Sky and the Rugby Channel.
Today, Opotiki College and Tauranga Girls' will play in the U15 girls' invitational tournament.
