Bay of Plenty Rugby Union will host the Bay of Plenty Secondary School Girls College Day at Paengaroa today. After a Scrum Factory Course and skills training conducted by the Steamers coaching staff, all eight teams will compete in three games, with the emphasis on player and team development.
College Day will provide an opportunity for girls from schools around the Bay of Plenty to compete in a positive atmosphere. Bay of Plenty Rugby will also use this opportunity as a chance to identify talent for the Bay representative teams. There will be selectors watching each match.
Bay of Plenty Rugby Unions Secondary School manager Ian Parata said, "It's exciting to be able to see our future Volcanix and Black Ferns from the Bay taking to the field this week. The talent in the Bay is outstanding and Wednesday will be our first opportunity to see the next generation take guidance from our Steamers coaching staff and secondary school girls selectors before putting the coaching into action later in the day."
