It's a farm experience within reach of the city. Agrodome, and the adjoining AmazeMe, give people the chance to get close to a whole range of farmyard animals big and small.
From the ostriches through to highland cattle, rabbits and sheep, the tourist attraction is a place for all the family. As the venue for the hugely popular Rotorua A&P Lifestyle Expo, the Ngongotaha centre is on the essentials list for its diversity.
Agrodome has been open for 40 years and offers a farm show, farm tour and houses a shearing museum. There's honey and kiwifruit tasting, a nursery full of animals and a woollen mill.
The farm show is fast-moving entertainment and education.
The Agrodome dates back to 1970 when world champion shearer Godfrey Bowen was asked to represent New Zealand at the World Expo in Japan. The Sheep Show was such a hit Godfrey and fellow farmer George Harford decided to create a permanent home for it. The Agrodome opened in 1971.
