The $10 million Lotto ticket sold in Rotorua is the biggest the city has seen - but the winner is yet to claim their prize.
A lucky Lotto punter who bought the ticket at Rotorua's Countdown Rotorua won $10,632,434 in Saturday night's Lotto draw.
New Zealand Lotteries communications adviser Victoria Barton-Chapple said the winning ticket was the biggest prize a Rotorua punter had won in Lotto to date.
The prize was made up of $10,132,434 from Powerball First Division and $500,000 from Lotto First Division.
Ms Barton-Chapple said those who won large amounts on Lotto usually claimed their winnings within three or four days.
"Sometimes they need some time to calm down and think things through," she said.
"It's very unusual for a big winner not to contact us first, either because they have checked their ticket at a retailer and the terminal has locked which means they immediately contact New Zealand Lotteries, or because they've checked their numbers themselves and contact us to see what to do next."
Staff at the Rotorua Countdown store were excited such a big winning ticket was sold there. A staff member who did not want to be identified said several people had been asking about whether the winning ticket had been claimed and if staff knew who bought it.
"It would be great if someone from Rotorua won."
Rotorua's second-largest win by a Rotorua Lotto punter was in 2008 when a Lotto ticket, also bought at Countdown Rotorua, netted the player $8,258,094 in Lotto winnings.
A ticket purchased in Kawerau won more than $14 million in 2004.
