The parents of Rotorua rower Julia Edward say they are "so proud" of what their daughter has achieved.
Speaking from Rio, where they watched Edward compete in the women's lightweight double scull event on Saturday, mum Sue Edward said they were very proud of the fourth placing.
"We are so proud of what Julia has achieved on the world stage. Being double world champ leading into the Olympics doesn't count for anything, it's a whole huge step up."
She said Julia's experience in the 2012 London Olympics meant she understood the huge pressure she would be under.
"She and Sophie were so pleased to make the A final an achievement in itself. They raced really hard and gave it their all but on the day it wasn't quite enough to medal.
