The Ignite Light Show, due to be held in Rotorua in March, has been put on hold indefinitely after equipment was damaged during the Auckland show on Saturday.
Event manager Mark Aldridge said the Rotorua event had minimal publicity to date and sales had been minimal.
He said they were unable to reschedule a date at this stage so any tickets already purchased would be refunded in full by Ticketek.
The show was to be held on March 11 at the Rotorua Racecourse.
Hundreds of patrons at the Auckland event have been flooding the company's Facebook page, which has now been removed, and company website, angry after they were forced to flee the event because of heavy rain and wind.
