This year's Rotorua Daily Post Christmas Appeal continues to gather momentum thanks to the generosity of local residents and businesses.
Living Well Church's annual Festive Finale production raised $1060 in cash and more than 300 items of food, as well as some toys for the appeal for the Salvation Army foodbank.
Festive Finale director Liz Fowler said they were delighted with the donations from the crowd of more than 400 people who watched the event which had been held every year for several years. "I think it has been really amazing."
Other recent donations received by the Salvation Army include five shopping trolleys of food, worth a total of $3000, from two Countdown supermarkets - Central Mall and Fenton St; an $800 cheque from Hyundai Rotorua, Hepburn Electrical and Roadmaster Trailers, $600 worth of food from Courier Post and Chrisco, three boxes of frozen chickens from Ingham's Enterprises and 200 cans of food raised by the Rotorua Ladies Golf Club Christmas luncheon.
Countdown Fenton St store manager Steve Green said the three trolley loads of food were donated by staff and customers.
