"We got her microchipped and won free registration for the year," she said.
"It's been quite a fun day and I've really enjoyed myself."
Among the fun, there was also the opportunity for residents to take a few minutes out and have their say about the Hannah's Bay Reserve Management Plan.
Eastside Steering Group member Ralph Mosen said the group's booth was all about getting the community to have a say on what they would like to include and experience in the park.
People of all ages made suggestions.
"Today we're celebrating a change of management of the park from Rotorua Lakes Council to a management group made up of representatives from Ngāti Te Roro o te Rangi, Ngāti Uenukukopako and the wider community are all part of the group," Mosen said.
"Today is about finding out what the community wants before we make any decisions."
Rebecca Moore brought her two sons Callum, 7, and Cameron, 9, to enjoy the fun day.
The boys said it had been great and had taken part in the treasure hunt.
"I made a flax flower," Callum said.
Rebecca said they lived nearby and had come down for a fun day to enjoy the reserve.
"It's an amazing day and it's been so nice to have a fine weekend."
Cameron said what he would like to see at the reserve was an astroturf area so he could practice hockey.
