Passengers on board the Rotorua Duck Tour were safe after a bus caught fire on Friday.
The bus had already been on Tikitapu (Blue Lake) - the first of three in its tour - when it started to smoke. Owner and "conducktor" Trevor Weir said everyone was off the bus when "it took hold".
The company runs two buses and will continue to operate over winter. Mr Weir said a lot of the damage was superficial and they would fix the bus. Fire investigator Stuart Bootten said the fire was caused by mechanical failure.
