"It's obviously a big shock. It's frightening.
"We have not had a chance to fully discuss what we can change but we'll definitely review what we can do."
Police were called after Govind was attacked by the armed man and struck several times about the head and body.
"The offender took an armful of cigarettes before jumping the counter and running out of the front of the store,'' police said.
After the incident Govind chased the offender.
"He wanted to get a look as to which direction he went so he could help police," Nimesh said.
Police said the offender ran across Te Ngae Rd, in front of heavy traffic, towards Tennyson Drive.
Police said witnesses described the robber as Maori and of a thin and lanky build.
He was wearing black jeans, a black hooded jumper, a black puffer jacket and a black cap.
Another witness thought the robber had a slight limp.
Govind was taken to hospital after the incident to be checked.
Nimesh said his father was on the mend and thankfully okay. He was discharged from hospital around midnight on Friday.
Police had also been provided with CCTV footage, Nimesh said. But police were asking anyone with information about the attack or the offender to contact authorities immediately.
