The BayTrust Rescue Helicopter transferred a 14-month-old boy to Starship Hospital for urgent medical care last night. The onboard flight nurse kept the baby and his mother comfortable while flying to Auckland.
Due to the urgent nature of the medical treatment the boy required, the rescue helicopter was the most efficient way of transporting him.
The flight was conducted with the aid of night vision goggles.
Meanwhile, earlier in the day the Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to a farm west of Putaruru just after 2pm.
A 57-year-old woman had sustained suspected pelvis injuries and a fractured wrist, after the horse she was riding fell and rolled on top of her.
