This weekend Rise Rotorua's 130 dance students will share the stage with 50 dancers from Tauranga, creating a dance spectacular featuring hip hop crews, jazz, acro, and contemporary styles.
Rise Dance Company has been teaching classes in Rotorua for less than a year, and has received an incredible response from the city's youth looking for dance as a creative outlet.
"We had an open day at the beginning of the year where people could come and take classes for free, and were encouraged by the numbers," said dance teacher Kerrin Burns.
"Some of the students had never danced before, but were really enthusiastic. We are trying to develop the talent of Rotorua's young people and grow their confidence and ability."
