Flood damage has forced Rotorua Girls' High School to close until Monday.
The Ministry of Education head of sector enablement and support Katrina Casey said the school would be closed for the rest of the week due to the extent of the flooding which has caused the boiler to fail.
As a result, the school doesn't have any heating and ministry guidelines ascertain classrooms must be at a certain temperature. The school was also closed for two days in May as a result of the boiler breaking.
School principal Ally Gibbons could not be reached for comment but she said in a letter to parents of students the school would be closed until Monday.
The letter said "School will be closed for two days - 21 and 22 August due to the excessive flooding throughout the school and in particular the boiler house. This has resulted in no heating in the school. Heating will be operational from Monday 25 August.
