One of the world's most famous caddies will be gracing the Rotorua Golf Course as part of the Rotorua Chamber of Commerce golf day.

Steve Williams, former caddy to Tiger Woods and Australian Adam Scott, will be at the golf day on March 19.

Rotorua Chamber of Commerce office manager Jos Webb said details of what Mr Williams would be doing were still being confirmed, as it was only confirmed he'd be attending yesterday.

Ms Webb said they'd had to move the date to a day earlier to secure Mr Williams at the tournament.

He would be raising funds for his charity, The Steve Williams Foundation, which helps junior golf in New Zealand.

Ms Webb said it wasn't known yet whether they'd be auctioning Mr Williams off, or whether he would just spend time at the course during the day.

Plans were also under way for him to speak at a dinner, she said.

Ms Webb expected his appearance to boost the popularity of the tournament and said those who wanted to take part should get in quick and register.
