Determination, hard work and collaborative teaching has been the key to having six students gain university scholarship examination results in one subject at Rotorua Boys' High School.
Deputy principal and physical education teacher Matt Dalton said he was "immensely proud" to have six boys reach the top achievement level in the country in his subject, a record for the school.
"They worked hard. It's not easy. Scholarship recognises the top 3 per cent of students in the country in each subject area so to have six of our boys achieve in the top 3 per cent in PE in the country, it's a celebration," Mr Dalton said.
'Working alongside the boys outside school hours was also a key to their success.
"We spent a lot of weekends, shared dinners and late nights together especially at the back end so the boys had the support network around them to enable them to reach their full potential," Mr Dalton said.
