The Greenlea Rescue Helicopter has had what the crew call a "relatively quiet" start to 2017 with just five callouts so far.
On the morning of January 1 the team made a pre-dawn medical transfer to Waikato Hospital from Taupo.
The following day a young man was flown from Taupo to Rotorua Hospital after fracturing his arm while riding his motocross bike.
On the night of January 2 a woman was taken from Turangi to Waikato Hospital with a head injury.
Last Friday a man in his late 20s was flown from the road end of a central plateau walking track to Rotorua Hospital after sustaining a "very severe and debilitating (but hopefully not permanent) injury to his man region".
