A series of earthquakes have rattled the country this morning including a 5.2 magnitude shake near Murupara.
The quake struck 10 km west of Murupara at 1.44am at a depth of 88km.
This was followed by a 2.8 magnitude shake 20km east of Murupara at 7.06am.
A strong 5.2 quake also struck near Masterton and was felt across the lower North Island when it hit at 7.55am.
One person who reported feeling the quake posted on the Wairarapa Times-Age Facebook page saying that it was "a good jolt second a loud rumble".
