Power cuts affect more than 1000 in Rotorua region

Affected areas in Rotorua overnight.

Residents in parts of the region were without power for about three hours last night, with three power outages affecting more than 1000 customers.

According to the Unison website 915 customers in Western Heights were without power from 11.05pm to 3.27am.

A further 177 customers in Oturoa Rd, Fleming Rd, Anderson Rd, and State Highway 5 had no power from 12.24am to 3.46am.

Reporoa residents also experienced a power outage with 161 customers affected from 4.48am to 6.42am.

The reasons for the outages are unknown at this time.
