Save Taupo police have suspended their search for a man they thought had drowned on the Waikato River after swimming in a natural hot pool near Spa Park.
The man was seen to leave the hotpool area and go into the river on Saturday night.
Emergency services spent three days searching
the river after credible reports the man might have been in difficulty.
Senior Constable Barry Shepherd said tonight the decision to suspend the search would be reviewed if any new information became available.
He thanked those who had given information and helped in the search.
