Eastern Bay Police have been called out to Taneatua near Whakatāne after reports of a firearm in the area.
A police media spokesman said police received a call at 2.40pm. The caller advised that someone in a passing car had presented a firearm at her.
Police are currently making enquiries in the Taneatua area, however, the report of the firearm is not yet substantiated.
