The following are items of interest from Rotorua police during the past few days:

There has been a big drop in dishonesty crime in Rotorua during the past month.

Inspector Stuart Nightingale said there had been a 32 per cent decrease in burglaries, thefts from cars and stolen cars, which was being put down to several offenders currently either being behind bars or on strict bail conditions.

Mr Nightingale said members of the public had also been playing their part keeping police aware of suspicious behaviour.

A 2006 green Mitsubishi Triton ute registration JGK42 was stolen from Te Ngae Rd at Owhata on Saturday and a 1994 white Toyota Celica registration DQU40 was stolen from Joanne Cres on Thursday last week.
