The following incidents were reported to Rotorua police during the past few days:

Stolen mountain bikes

Five mountain bikes were stolen across Rotorua at the weekend, including one valued at $3500.

Rotorua police crime prevention manager Inspector Stuart Nightingale said these crimes usually coincided with the presence of a particular individual.

Two of the stolen bikes came from separate properties in Kawaha Point, one from a property in Glenholme, one from Malfroy Rd and another from a Fenton St motel, though this one has since been returned.

Mr Nightingale said the bike stolen from Malfroy Rd was valued at $3500.

"While some of these are used and then dumped, others will often be found for sale.

"If it seems out of place, call the police."

Expensive motorbike stolen

A black 2017 Harley Davidson motorcycle, registration B7LNS, was stolen overnight on October 12-13.

"It's disappointing that somebody has stolen somebody else's pride and joy like that," Mr Nightingale said.

The motorcycle was stolen from a locked garage on Gordon Rd in Western Heights.

"Someone must have seen it being pushed down the road or loaded on to a trailer.

"It's really upsetting for the owner."

Glenholme burglaries continue

Mr Nightingale said there had been another two burglaries in Glenholme at a James St and an Arthur St property.

"If you notice any suspicious behaviours, people looking up driveways or into cars, call us."

This follows a spate of burglaries in the Glenholme area in recent weeks.

"We want to be called out, even if it turns out to be nothing, we don't mind," Mr Nightingale said.

"It may be something and we certainly want to know about it."

Dishonesty offending in Murupara

Over the past three weeks there have been 14 burglaries in Murupara.

"They have been at a range of properties, many in Miro Rd or Pine Dr," Mr Nightingale said.

He said it was suspected to be a group of young people.

"They likely live locally and their parents or caregivers will know that they are out wandering at all hours."

Stolen items include lawnmowers, tools, a fridge, household items, drawers and a mattress. Some properties were damaged.

"In a small community these kind of offences are really felt by the locals."
