Police are investigating an incident involving a person being hit by a car in the Bay of Plenty.

Emergency services were called to Howell Rd in Taneatua at about 4.30pm yesterday to reports of a person being struck by a car.

A woman at the scene said a man had been taken to hospital by St John ambulance.

A section of Howell Rd was cordoned by police while a scene examination took place.

A spokesperson from the police media team said more information about the incident would be released later today.
