Police have given a stern word to two boys aged 16 after taking away a slug gun and some pellets this afternoon.

A police media spokeswoman said this was the result of police investigating a house in Scott Ave in Rotorua's Owhata suburb after reports of people at the house with firearms.

The police cordoned the house before finding the teens.
