A large house fire in Rotorua started in a bedroom, Fire and Emergency NZ say.
Fire crews battled the blazing house fire in Ōwhata during the early hours of Saturday morning.
They were called to the fire on Pohutukawa Drive at 12.16am on Saturday. The blaze took two crews about an hour to extinguish and a fire investigator remained at the scene to investigate the cause.
Today, A Fire and Emergency NZ spokesperson told the Rotorua Daily Post it was an accidental fire that started in the bedroom.
