Perceptions of safety: Facebook feedback

We asked our Facebook readers if they felt safe in the city, and if not, what could be done to improve it?

*How is it safe when there are groups of young men walking around like they are king and trying to openly sell drugs to teenagers in our CBD streets. Always keep my kids close in town!

*More security around the bus depot would be good.

*Born in Rotorua and compared to everywhere else its always been pretty safe!

*Rotorua's CBD isn't very safe. There needs to be more security and cameras even, to be present there.

*Security at bus depot and ban smoking and have maybe a few more people walking around making sure everything's okay.

*Must be at certain times as I haven't ever felt unsafe in the CBD. I don't like how the kids loiter around the City Focus as they swear and carry on.

*Ban smoking around the bus stop. I don't want me and my son breathing it in. more security every where. I don't go to town at all because of how unsafe.

*In Aussie they banned people from wearing hoodies and beanies in malls and that seemed to have helped a lot! So by banning smoking + in the city centre would that help to keep 'them' out of there? Who knows. It's horrible to think we can't feel safe walking through our own town.

*Have seen two fights in the last year also another man getting his head kicked in in broad daylight. It's scary especially when you have babies.

* I don't feel unsafe but I don't like walking around the CBD because of the intimidating atmosphere.

*Get more cops to patrol the street. It is quite safe but good to have for a peace of mind.

*Nothing wrong with Rotorua, anywhere you go there's always a chance somethng bad mite happen ... Be proud of your hometown, positive vibes= positive people.
