It seems as though this week's column is brought to you by the word colour.
Ironically, a couple of days before the dress debate, the Hickeys started debating colours after seeing a television commercial highlighting their colour range.
The discussion centred around how many colours there were - and answers ranged from three to thousands. I decided to ask Dr Google and apparently the question, how many colours are there?, is a little simplistic. It all started getting far too complicated for this radio jock - but let's just say there are lots.
For the record, my favourite colour is green. Don't really know why but perhaps it stems back to my bedroom growing up, when I had a green door.
As we now move into March and say farewell to summer, the grass should start going green again while most of the green and other summer colours will slowly disappear from the trees and gardens around the place.
I know lots will be looking forward to the seasonal change, but can you hear my groans of disappointment? I love summer for so many reasons - come back again soon, maybe in nine months or so?
And finally this week on the subject of colours, has anybody else noticed that one of the more colourful aspects of Rotorua has slowly been disappearing? I'm referring to the flags that used to line the light poles of all our major roads and entrance ways.
Lately the flags have become pretty sparse, and those that are up seem to be only advertising. There always were the ads, but spaced among the generic city branding they didn't look like just another billboard.
And now we are just left with a whole lot of ugly looking attachments on the light poles.
I hope it's just a small oversight on council's part and the vibrant and colourful flags return soon.
