Patsy and Casper. I'm pretty sure they were the names of our family cats when I was just starting school. Actually I'm 100 per cent sure about Patsy, but not quite sure about the ginger cat. I think it was Casper. I'm sure Mum will remind me once she reads this today. Since those early years, I've lost count of how many feline family members I've had, especially as at one stage I think we had five! So I suppose you could say I'm a cat kind of guy.
They say dogs are man's best friend, but I've never really been that keen on dogs. Other family members have had dogs over the years that I've been happy to be around, but having my own? No thanks.
Apart from a few years when I was living in a place that didn't allow pets, I've always had cats. Right now we've got three who don't always get along, but they add a bit of extra fun to the house. As well as our cats, we've also got a pet hedgehog. I'll give you two guesses as to what his name is ... answer at the end of today's piece.
The fact I love cats is certainly the reason why I'm enjoying The Hits Kitty Cam so much. Although I'm not the only one, as we have had an overwhelming response this week to what is basically just four kittens doing what kittens do. Eating, licking themselves, a little bit of play and a whole lot of sleep. The live stream has been up since Monday and is so cute, but be warned, it can be a genuine time waster! So if you love cats and haven't checked it out yet, make sure you do as it is supposed to be turned off a the end of this week. Go here NOW - www.thehits.co.nz/kittycam.
So the votes have been cast and the decision has been made in the contentious Te Arawa Partnership proposal. I do applaud all members of the council for making the tough decisions that had to be made, although I do question the legal positions talked about last week.
