More details have emerged of a robbery last night which saw a shop attendant threatened at knifepoint.

On Monday at 5.50pm police received a report of an aggravated robbery at a takeaway store on Te Ngae Rd. They have since confirmed the shop was Owhata Takeaways opposite Sunrise Ave.

"A male carrying a knife entered the store, jumped the counter and threatened the shop attendant and took money from the till," a police spokeswoman said.

"He has then fled the scene on the back of a motorbike being driven by another male who had been waiting outside."

The police said they responded immediately and tried to find the offenders but were unsuccessful.

"A scene examination has been carried out and the victim is being supported.

"Police are continuing to make inquiries into the robbery."

The attack comes just over two weeks after the Rosedale Superette, which is less than 2km away, was robbed by a man with a hammer.

The man robbed the Owhata dairy around 5pm on July 6 and made off with cigarettes.

The dairy owner was hit over the head by the man and taken to hospital.

Then on July 15 two people tried to rob Pleasant Heights Supermart but left when the worker deployed the shop's fog cannon.
