We asked prospective buyers checking out Rotorua open homes how they were finding the process of buying a house.

We're looking for a place for my son and his girlfriend because they are at a stage they want to go flatting. We figure it's better for them to be payinga mortgage. We've been looking for about six months.
We already have a house and are looking at getting a second one. The first is in a good area but it's a bit older. When we buy we will keep the first one as an investment.

It's very hard to find a house. Nothing is available. Five years back there were so many options in the cheaper price range.
We've been looking for a month or so. It's very difficult. There's not a lot out there and with the Government caps on home start grant it's tough. Houses under $400,000 are nearly impossible without having to do an enormous amount of renovation.
