One person was hurt after the car they were driving rolled on Paradise Valley Rd in Rotorua, near the intersection with Clayton Rd.

A police media spokeswoman said the crash happened just before 3pm.

"Initially the person on scene has informed us a car has rolled and no persons have been seen getting out of the vehicle," she said.

"A car is on its side down the bank about 150m up Paradise Valley Rd," a reporter at the scene said.

"Medics, police and fire are here, I think they've already got one person out of the car."

A St John Ambulance spokeswoman said the driver of the car suffered minor injuries and was taken to Rotorua Hospital in a comfortable condition.

No one else was hurt in the crash and the road was re-opened a short time later.
