Kiwis are being urged to share their top cycle trails and help the NZ Transport Agency and Bike Wise discover New Zealand's favourite places to cycle.
Rotorua's Redwoods has been named the winner of New Zealand's Favourite Place to Cycle for the last two years.
The favoured patch of forest also took out the Off-Road or Adventure Ride category, while Taupo and surrounding areas were named the best On-Road ride earlier this year.
Entries open in January and Kiwis could win a voucher for their local cycle shop in the annual hunt for top biking spots.
NZ Transport Agency's cycling manager Dougal List said he looked forward to hearing about some new or rediscovered routes.
"We are fortunate to live in such a beautiful country with so many opportunities to cycle. New Zealand's Favourite Places to Cycle recognises what we have on offer, and allows us to share that with others."
New Zealand's Favourite Places to Cycle includes categories New Zealand Cycle Trail, Off-Road/Adventure, Urban Trail/Commute and On-Road Ride.
Taupo's Lakefront trails took out the title of the best urban commute in 2015.
"This year we really want to hear from the urban cyclists and those who cycle as their daily commute.
"One aim of Bike Wise is to encourage more people to enjoy cycling. Sharing favourite cycle locations and tips might be just what is needed to get others back on their bikes this summer."
The Transport Agency launched its annual Bike Wise programme this month, with an aim of encouraging even more Kiwis to take up cycling.
Nominations for New Zealand's Favourite Places to Cycle will take place from January 1-31. Voting will be open throughout February, with the official winner unveiled in March.
Entries will be open via www.bikewise.co.nz.
