Wow time goes fast these days.
It seems like it was only yesterday that I was setting my goals for the year and here we are just a fortnight away from the end of 2014. As someone recently pointed out to me, there are 24 whole hours in a day but to me most days can seem more like 24 minutes.
I don't know about you but there just does not seem to be enough time to do the things I need to do in a day. Travelling doesn't help and a trip to town from my home in Awahou for meetings can often see a whole morning disappear, not to mention a flight to Auckland or Wellington seeing a whole day vanish. Then there are the business and personal trips and flights to the South Island or Australia which can easily see a couple of days lost forever. It's a good thing I enjoy driving and flying and try my best to enjoy the journey even though you can be taking off in one time zone and before you know it you are arriving in another - a bit like the speed of this year.
So how has time in 2014 treated you? How have the seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks and months of 2014 contributed to your life journal and journey? As I reflect on the year which saw my wife and I celebrate 30 years of marriage as well as 10 years in our businesses, my son celebrate his 20th birthday and my daughter complete her secondary school education there were some significant events measured by time in 2014 for our whanau. How about you and your whanau?
One of the things that has helped me realise that I have not wasted the minutes is when I look back and think of the activities such as those mentioned which took many years to achieve. It really is true that the journals of our lives are written one letter at a time but can speak volumes.
