New speed cameras will be going up around the country, including the Bay, in the next few months.
Police today confirmed the successful tenderer to construct the camera sites as Downer ITS.
A new speed camera would be installed on State Highway 2, Pukehina in the Bay of Plenty.
The $10 million project was aimed at putting cameras up in areas with the highest risk of speed-related crashes, based on a detailed independent analysis.
It was anticipated the camera would begin operating from early next year, subject to progress on site works, engineering assessments and appropriate testing.
