While there are big changes ahead for The Daily Post, another big year is on the cards for the Rotorua District as well.
This year is local body election year. I'll be covering elections for both the Rotorua District Council and mayoralty and the Bay of Plenty Regional Council. Last election fewer than 43 per cent of the district's eligible voters had their say.
Let's hope we can hit at least the 50 per cent mark this time around.
Readers would also have picked up on my new column "Ask Matt", which we trialled before the re-launch. The column has proven to be quite popular and will carry on in the new-look paper.
It would also be great to get a few questions unrelated to the district council, such as the history of place names, buildings or local identities from the past. So if you've got a burning question, just ask me and I'll do my best to find an answer.
