Dunkin Donuts has more than 10,000 stores in 30 countries worldwide.

Dunkin Donuts has more than 10,000 stores in 30 countries worldwide.

A dozen jobs will be created in Rotorua when one of the world's biggest franchises arrives in the city.

A Dunkin' Donuts store will open next month on Tutanekai St, in the heart of the CBD, and is expected to create 12 jobs.

The jobs have already been advertised on Trade Me and the Dunkin' Donuts website.

The food firm has more than 10,000 stores in 30 countries worldwide. The franchise is known for its coffee, fresh doughnuts and other baked goods.

Stores are already established in Auckland and Hamilton.

Cafe Concepts director Troy Morrison said Rotorua was the next logical step in a North Island expansion.

"We are sure that the new store will be well received by the people of Rotorua. The Dunkin' Donuts fit-out will look modern and inviting and people will find it a great place to meet up with friends for a fresh coffee and doughnut. We also hope that it offers people a meeting place in the original retail heart of Rotorua," he said.

Mr Morrison said the company had plenty of inquiries in the past few years from people in Rotorua asking when Dunkin' Donuts would open in the city, so he was positive the store would do well.

The store will be hiring a combination of retail staff, shift managers and a store manager.

Mr Morrison said the company was looking for staff who brought enthusiasm, honesty and a genuine enjoyment of interacting with other team members and the public.

He said job applications would be taken on site at 1252 Tutanekai St on September 19, from 1pm and 4pm.

The store is expected to open before the end of October.
