Nasty overnight attack on couple in Tokoroa home

Police are hunting a man following a "random and nasty" attack on a couple in their Tokoroa home overnight.

About 2am, the unknown man entered a St Andrews Drive home and threatened the occupants, a middle-aged couple, with a crowbar.

The woman suffered minor injuries to her hand as a result.

The offender fled the scene, taking a number of items from the house.

The couple had been left shaken and support was being provided, police said in a statement.

"This was a random and nasty attack and we are committed to finding the man who is responsible."
