The names of the two people killed in a head-on collision will likely be released today.

The names of the two people killed in a head-on collision near Tokoroa will likely be released today.

The crash, which left two people dead and four others injured, happened along State Highway 1 just after 1pm on Saturday.

A man and woman involved in the Boxing Day collision are in the intensive care unit at Waikato Hospital in critical conditions, while a 17-year-old man is in the high-dependency unit in a stable condition.

A fourth person injured in the crash, a 14-year-old girl, is in a stable condition in a ward.

The Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter and BayTrust Rescue Helicopter from Rotorua were used to transport the patients.

Meanwhile, nine of the 10 people involved in a three-car crash at Tapapa on Sunday have been discharged from Waikato Hospital. The 10th, who sustained serious injuries from the crash, is in a stable condition in a ward. The incident happened about 2.40pm at the intersection of State Highway 28 and State Highway 5. Police, fire and ambulance crews attended the scene.
