The woman killed in a crash on State Highway 5 between Rotorua and Tirau last week was Lynette Helen Ambler, nee Gibson, from Rotorua.

Police said in a statement she was aged 63.

“Our thoughts are with her family and loved ones.”

The highway was closed on September 11 following the three-vehicle crash near Tapapa at about 3.25pm just east of the intersection of Webster Rd.

One person died at the scene and three people were left seriously injured in the crash.

Police inquiries into the circumstances of the crash continued.

Taupō area manager road policing Senior Sergeant Fane Troy previously said they want to speak with witnesses of the crash, or vehicle movements before the crash.

Fane appealed for witnesses or anyone with relevant footage of an orange Toyota Yaris to come forward.
